“Don’t panic.”

Ah… it is one of my favorite Douglas Adams quotes.

As a business owner… it’s good advice. But… to not panic you should have a good marketing strategy and an even greater writer to help you win over customers. That is the whole point isn’t it.

Customers = Success

That’s where I come in… a former newspaper journalist and literature professor (among other things). So… why am I a great copywriter for you????

Tis the question of the ages! A conundrum, a mystery, a puzzle wrapped in an enigma! (I’m channeling Adams here) Never fear! For my dear reader, I have the answer.

You see, it comes down to the power of words. Not ANY words. THE words. As a journalist and professor, I was, thank you very much, a master of (crafting and editing) the written word. Crafting (and editing) sentences that sing (hallelujah!), stories that soar (like an eagle), and articles that captivate (still thinking of an image… Don’t panic)… yep… that was my job.

Yes… good newspaper journalists have a way with words that few possess. It’s a gift that enables us to convey complex ideas with ease and elegance. I wrote us, but I mean me, myself and I, like Bebe Rexha sang.

Seriously… it’s not just about writing pretty sentences. No… no… no. A great copywriter (and content writer) knows that the real magic happens once you combine (I feel pretty, oh so pretty) sentences with a deep understanding of who your audience is.

A former journalist and lit prof know about that stuff… about reading between the lines to suss out what a reader really wants and needs… how to tailor writing to speak directly to readers… to create a connection that resonates deeply.

And… to outdo your competition… you need to get creative. Well… a great copywriter should be a master of the unexpected – always ready to go left when the reader thinks you’re going right. How many times as a former journalist and lit prof have I surprised and delighted my audience!?! Gotta keep ‘em buying the paper as a journalist and coming to class as a prof or else.

So… there you have it, dear business owner. A former newspaper journalist and lit prof are the best candidates to help with your copy and content writing… especially when you consider their way with words, their audience awareness and their boundless creativity.

Again… “their” is really “me, myself and I, solo ride until I die…”

It makes perfect sense.

Back to Douglas Adams… he once said, “I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.”

Yeah… well. Thanks for all the fish Mr. Adams… who better to meet a deadline than a former journalist and literature professor.
